Michigan Weekend Getaway

It's been so gloomy and blah here lately, so I decided to put together a round up of our Michigan trip. We went for a long weekend. We left Friday morning and made the 8 hour drive to Muskegon, MI. Our little Airbnb was with a group of cabins right on the lake. There typically is a firepit on the beach, but it was flooded, so the firepit was up on the grass instead.

The view was still so good. After we unpacked, we got ready for dinner. We sat outside on a make shift patio (COVID edition) at a brewery called Pigeon Hill Brewing Company. The temps dropped pretty fast so, it was a little cold outside, but the drinks we pretty good. We were also able to order a pizza from the restaurant next door and they brought it straight to our table. To the left is a picture from outside of our cabin.

This sweater/sweatshirt was the perfect match for layering over my long sleeves. The way the bottom of the sweater is designed allows you to adjust the length of the sweater. It's long enough that you could probably wear it as a dress if you wanted or tuck it in to your jeans like I typically do! My jeans are seriously one of my favorite pairs that I'm sure you've seen many times before. They don't sell the version with the distressed hem on them any more but the fit is the same and so comfy but cute. I love pairing my jeans with these tennis shoes from DSW. They are a more affordable option for cute sneakers compared to other high end sneakers and are so comfy. I've walked many miles in these babies.

The next morning, we went and found the cutest coffee shop, Aldea, and then walked through their Farmer's Market. One of our favorite things to do at home is go to our local coffee shops for breakfast, so of course we had to do it here. This shop is what I want our home to look like. I think these are actually the same dining room chairs we have!

Paige denim is definitely one of my favorite brands of jeans. They are usually so cute no matter the style but also comfortable. They are a more expensive brand of denim, so I always have to hunt for them to find them on sale. I found this pair at Nordstrom Rack. They were perfect for running around exploring all day. I bought this sweater last year and when I saw it in this color variation (navy in the back) I had to buy it again. I am in love with this sherpa too. It was surprisingly so WARM. I got these booties last year and wore the heck out of them. Target also came out with an identical pair this year for a more affordable option.

After the farmer's market, we stopped back at home to change and then stopped for lunch at Fatty Lumpkin's Sandwich Shop and took it to the beach to eat. We tried to sit at a table outside, but it ended up being too windy and the birds were swarming us for food haha, so we finished eating in the car. Afterwards we walked around the beach and explored some other walkways.

We also walked out to this lighthouse. We were very unprepared for the waves to crash on the path and may have gotten a littleee wet. The view at the lighthouse was pretty cool though.

This windbreaker was the perfect jacket for the windy beach and our trip out to the lake. Unfortunately there's not many sizes left.

For dinner, we stopped at a bbq restaurant called The Deck right on the beach. We loved the view and being in the sun. Afterwards, we went back to our cabin and made a firepit and enjoyed the sunset and smore's.

I know so many people bought this sweater last year, and I love it so much I bought it in a second color when it was on sale. It is pricey, but I know I will wear the crap out of them. Wearing the same shoes as above. I've had these sunnies for a few years. Most importantly, I love this bag. I found it at Nordstrom Rack in store for only $31. Here's a few similar options that I really like to: option 1, option 2, option 3.

Sunday was our active day. First we went to a state park and went on several different hiking trails. Our hiking trails at home don't end up on the beach like this one!

I've posted about these utility joggers a few times before, but they were really nice for our hiking. I really like them for running errands at home too.

After we hiked, we enjoyed lunch and then found a bike trail and rode along the lake. Michigan had a lot of flooding this year so the path was broken up in certain parts. Luckily we were able to make it across the whole path we wanted. On our way back home, we stopped at a bar and listened to a live band for a while. We finished out Sunday with dinner at a place that wasn't really my favorite and drove around to look at some of the houses around town. I made us stop along the beach and set up my camera on our car to get some pics of us with the timer. I was pretty proud of how they turned out!

I've been searching, trying to find a similar sweater to this duster, but nothing compares. I bought this a year ago from Nordstrom, and it is one of my favorite fashionable, but warm sweaters.

The next morning, we cleaned our cabin up and stopped at 2 more coffee shops on our way out of town. We tried a new one and went back to the same coffee shop from the day before because it was SO GOOD. Then we made the journey back home. It was a great weekend getaway, and we both highly recommend this little town for a long weekend getaway!
